“Tešanjska vrela” Exporting to Kuwait and US Market is in Plans

first_imgSoon, the citizens of the Arabian Gulf countries will have water from “Tešanjska vrela” available to them, because 150.000 bottles under the name “Natural Spring Water Diamond” has already been shipped. This is big news for producers of water from Tešanj. The Director of this company Ibro Omerbašić said to portal ekapija.com that preparations for export of water to Kuwait lasted several years. A new bottle design was made with the use of ‘shrink sleeve’ labels. These are the most luxurious labels on the market, which was a request from Kuwait.“After the bottles arrive in Kuwait, it will be followed by a period in which we see a dynamic sale on that market, and we could plan the next steps’’, said Omerbašić.He added that with the company from Kuwait they are negotiating new details. The plan is for local customers to send up to two million bottles. Kuwaitis are interested not only to buy water, but also for other investments. In addition to the supplied products to Arab countries, there is also a plan to export to the US, where preparations such as the ones for Kuwait are underway.“Whether this will be realized, we do not know yet, but it is currently going in that direction’’, said Omerbašić.In the US, the quality of “Tešanjska vrela’ water has been confirmed. “Esperanza’’ in at 22nd place at the international fair of water in Berkeley Springs that was held from 23-25 February 2013, and for the second time was named the best water in the world in 2012, and was given the gold medal for quality. In the same competition, “Perrier” took third place. At the beginning of the summer, the distribution for ‘’Esperanza’’ began for the BiH market, which until now was only packaged for well-known buyers outside BiH.Tešanj has long been known for its quality of water whose source is its spring.Omerbašić spoke of the problems with the relevant institutions. The criteria of the EU in terms of water production are met here, but institutions did not come into contact with agencies in European countries, and it happens that every company separately meets the procedures for certain countries abroad. This further complicates and prolongs the operating procedures. This company began production of water 13 years ago and since 2000, is engaged in the bottling and transport of water under the name “Tešanjski dijamant”. After this brand, the mineral water brand “Esperanza’’ was placed on the market, followed by juices “Fruktix” and carbonated drinks “Happy”.(Source: ekapija.com)last_img read more

Florida Unemployment Claims Begin to Increase After Weeks of Decline

first_imgThe Department of Economic Opportunity had paid out $7.29 billion in Florida and federal benefits, of which $1.8 billion was state money.DeSantis has indicated he plans to continue moving forward with reopening efforts. Rather than implementing a statewide mask requirement, he asked younger Floridians this week “to do your part” by following health recommendations regarding social distancing, hand cleaning and mask wearing. However, the governor added that he also understood the desire of younger Floridians to go out after being at home for weeks.“People naturally want to do things,” DeSantis said. “If I was 25, I’d be probably with them. I mean that’s just realistic. I can sit here and try to act like I wouldn’t, but I remember what it was like then.”He has also pushed for the resumption of professional sports in Florida. Florida saw a slight increase in first-time jobless claims last week, as the U.S. Department of Labor on Thursday reported 1.48 million initial unemployment claims were filed nationwide. Our state had an estimated 93,394 claims during the week that ended June 20. That was up from 88,148 the previous week, as the second phase of Gov. Ron DeSantis’ reopening effort slows down amid an increase in coronavirus cases. The state Department of Economic Opportunity announced last Friday that the state’s May unemployment rate was 14.5 percent, which represents 1.412 million Floridians out of work from a labor force of almost 9.71 million. A June rate will be announced July 17.Florida’s 93,394 claims are behind only the 287,354 posted in California and the 124,283 in Georgia.Meanwhile, New York had 90,186 claims, while Texas recorded 89,241. The numbers for Georgia, New York and Texas were all lower than in the previous week. The unemployment increase in Florida followed two weeks of declining first-time claims. Since March 15, when the coronavirus pandemic began affecting the state, more than 2.64 million jobless applications have been filed, according to the Department of Economic Opportunity.last_img read more

AH Reorganization Brings Major Surprise

first_imgBy Muriel J. SmithATLANTIC HIGHLANDS – New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno swore in Councilmen Jack Archibald and Peter Doyle to three-year terms on the governing body, but left the meeting immediately following the swearing in to participate in a second reorganization in Shrewsbury. Before apologizing for her hasty retreat from the session, the lieutenant governor spoke briefly on elected officials’ obligation to “do what the people want, not what we as public officials want.”However, the exit of both the lieutenant governor and Freeholder Director Lillian Burry, who also attended the borough’s reorganization meeting, came minutes before Councilman Lou Fligor moved that Councilman Roy Dellosso be named council president. In the absence of higher officials, Mayor Fred Rast swore Dellosso into the position, over the negative votes of both Doyle and Archibald. The move was unusual for both Rast and Fligor, since Dellosso is a Democrat, one of two, with Bob Sutton, on the GOP-controlled governing body. Traditionally and politically, a governing body selects one from its own party to serve in the absence of the mayor. Republicans Jake Hoffman and Fligor voted with Democrats Dellosso and Bob Sutton to move Dellosso into the top seat on council.Fligor declined any comment on his vote for a Democrat for the council president position, but Rast told The Two River Times after the meeting that he endorsed the governing body’s majority vote for the Democrat because “he’s a good man, he’s been on the council the entire time I’ve been mayor, and I think he deserves it.”Peter Doyle is sworn in by Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno.–Courtesy Joseph BarbieriDellosso said he was not surprised by the council or mayor’s actions, because “the mayor’s always been about bi-partisanship, and he knows I’ll do my best.” The councilman added that he feels he will be excellent in the position, since he is actively involved in the community and enjoys helping borough residents.More uncertainty about Rast’s dedication to the Republican party that first help elect him to office seven years ago came during the mayor’s annual address to the public at the end of the meeting. He indicated he will not seek another term when his expires this year, but has a candidate in mind. Council makeup this year is no different from every other year since Rast became mayor, with the same elected officials that first served with him in 2008 still on the governing body. Doyle gained his fourth term this year, Archibald his seventh. That a split in the Republican party in this close-knit community is developing was further evidenced when Rast failed to reappoint Archibald to the Harbor Commission, replacing him with Fligor, who will continue in that position with Hoffmann, who was renamed. When asked about that change, Rast indicated he has not been pleased with some of the activities at the harbor and feels Fligor will be able to resolve some issues, but he did not elaborate on what concerns he has.In responding to questions about how he feels in not being reappointed to a third year on commission, Archibald said he’s very disappointed in not being able to continue. “I’ve enjoyed all of my time there, and I believe I have made contributions to the commission that have been beneficial both to the harbor operations and to the taxpayers and businesses of our community.” He added that he is further disappointed that he was not consulted about a replacement for himself, nor asked about any ongoing programs or activities on which the new commission member will need to be brought up to speed. There were few changes in the other mayoral or council appointments, with Bernard Reilly continuing as borough attorney, Christine Hanlon as chief municipal prosecutor, Hank Wolfe as public defender, and Richard Rast as code enforcement officer.  Andrew J. Sabine of the Fallon and Larsen firm will continue as municipal auditor.Rene Frotton, who has served in both Marlboro and Loch Arbor was named tax assessor as Eldo Magnani retired from the position Dec. 31.    The Two River Times was continued as an official newspaper. In his annual address, Rast quoted from the address he gave at his first reorganization in 2008, and noted that many of the same national problems that existed then continue to exist today. “The radicals of the ‘60s have now grown and are elected officials today,” he said, but added that in Atlantic Highlands, “we have remained unchanged by radical 1960s…we respect each together, we work together, we raise our families together…the intermarriages strengthen our community…the police and fireman is role models and we all work together.”Rast added that proof of how the community works well together is the number of accomplishments that have been achieved, in spite of earthquakes, Super Storm Sandy, hurricanes, floods, landslides, and unusual snowfalls which have impacted the borough and the county over the past seven years.last_img read more

Google Seeking Developers to Make Wave-Based Forum

first_imgThe idea has been batted around before, but now it looks like Google is ready to throw some effort in the direction of creating a Google Wave powered forum.According to a post on the Google Wave Developer Blog, the Google Wave team already open-sourced Forum Botty, a Google Wave extension that creates a forum-like experience inside Wave, and now it wants to “continue developing this code base into a powerful and generic extension for running forums in wave, and we’re hoping that other developers like you will join us in this project.”Google Wave is a real-time, collaborative environment that Google made available to the public at the end of May. Despite much hype and anti-hype (where detractors rush to call it dead), it looks like Wave is still very much alive and kicking and looking at some interesting new uses. The post on the developer blog is written by David Crane, an external Wave developer who is involved in the development of the Debatewise extension. With his work on Debatewise, Crane has already used Wave in holding mass discussions, so he already has some experience in the realm of creating a Wave-based forum. Crane writes that Wave is better than a standard forum right from the get-go:Google Wave offers a number of benefits over traditional forum software, with just its native functionality. However, by incorporating some of the tried-and-tested features from forums into a robot, we could turn Google Wave into the ultimate platform for forum-based discussion.A forum could be a killer app for Wave. It’s a tool that people already use in huge numbers for specific purposes, are used to keeping separate to their email, and will dip in and out of as required. Wave is similar enough for them to jump in quickly and different enough for them to get, and be hooked by, the benefits. A forum removes the need for people to find things to use Wave for and means they could use it even if none of their friends did. Wave could enhance and improve upon some of the most important features of a forum and through acclimatisation, will encourage them to use it for a world of other purposes.Crane says that there are three areas in need of developing: a way of organizing waves around subject matter, a method of encouraging participation with rewards and the development of “trust mechanisms so people can determine who to rely upon or ignore”.To this end, he says that they are looking for “Python, Java and Javascript developers, QA testers and anyone with an interest in forum software, community building and online discussion”. The resulting Wave-based forum will be licensed under the same open-source license used for Google Wave, meaning it will be open for others to implement and modify. Match moments in Bangladesh vs West Indies World Cup match

first_imgThe West Indies would be praising their luck for losing the toss against Bangladesh in their World Cup Group B match in Dhaka on Friday. Maybe they wanted Bangladesh to bat first and give their bowlers an opportunity to show their bowling prowess. And that’s what the West Indies bowlers got on with, counting the opposition scalps.Tamim Iqbal was dismissed on the third ball of the match to Kemar Roach. Roach soon increased his tally to finish with the figures of 6-0-19-3 and earned the Man-of-the-Match for his efforts. That first early wicket started a competition of sorts among Sulieman Benn and skipper Darren Sammy .While left-arm spinner Benn finished with figures of 4-18, Sammy claimed three scalps to wrap-up the Bangladesh batting on 58 in the 19th over after just 90 minutes of play.It took the Windies just 44 minutes and 12.2 over to reach the target. They crushed co-host Bangladesh by nine wickets.last_img read more

Santosh Hegde apprehensive over final outcome of Lokpal bill

first_imgKarnataka Lokayukta and a member of the Lokpal Bill drafting committee Santosh Hegde on Saturday said he was apprehensive about the final outcome of the proposed bill as it could be a watered down version of what was originally envisaged.”The discussion on the bill is nearly over and after the last meeting…of what you read between two parties, they do not seem to see eye to eye and hence I am apprehensive of the outcome of this effort,” a candid Hegde said.”They will a bring a bill for a certain, but how strong the bill is going to be is a question,” the former Supreme Court judge, who represents civil society on the Lokpal panel, said.Expressing his doubts, he said, “They do not want the PM to come under its scope, they do not want the judiciary, they do not want military purchases being investigated nor the central government employees nor the corrupt conduct of MPs outside the House but having implications inside House.”On the CBI being kept out of the RTI Act, he said, “Today they want to keep out CBI, tomorrow it will be the police”. Once an investigation was over, there could be sharing of data to ensure transparency, he opined. However, he was of the opinion that the current strong anti-corruption feeling would have some bearing on elections. “One day the government will realise they had got an opportunity to earn a good name, but that they had missed the bus,” said the Lokayukta.advertisement- With PTI inputsFor more news on India, click here. For more news on Business, click here. For more news on Movies, click here. For more news on Sports, click here.last_img read more

AI accelerator architecture boosts performance, slashes power consumption

first_imgShare this:TwitterFacebookLinkedInMoreRedditTumblrPinterestWhatsAppSkypePocketTelegram Tags: Advanced Technology Compute Architecture The major difference in Hailo’s architecture versus CPUs and GPUs is the lack of external memory. Instead, computing resources — memory, control and compute blocks — are distributed throughout the chip. A great deal of power is saved simply by not needing to send data on and off the chip.Neural networks are made up of layers, each comprising a number of nodes. At the nodes, data values are multiplied by various weight values, added together, and the result is passed to the next layer. One layer may require slightly different computing resources from the next.Hailo’s software analyses the requirements of each layer in the network and allocates relevant resources. Memory, control and compute blocks allocated to each layer are mapped onto the chip as close to each other as possible, and subsequent layers are fitted in close by. The idea is to minimise the distance the data has to travel.“The innovation comes from the architecture itself,” Bar said. “We are not doing any tiling, we are not doing any compression, we are not doing any sparsity, none of the techniques that traditional computation architectures need to do to overcome the bandwidth issue.”“There is no hardware-defined pipeline, so we are very flexible and can adopt other neural networks, the hardware supports them all, but we need to bridge the gap with complementary software,” he added.Software and hardware have been closely co-developed over the last two years. A software stack, including proprietary quantisation schemes, supports TensorFlow, with ONNX support coming in Q4. Hailo's novel compute architecture uses software to allocate on-chip memory, control and compute blocks to neural networks as required (Image: Hailo) Hailo’s novel compute architecture uses software to allocate on-chip memory, control and compute blocks to neural networks as required (Image: Hailo) Driver Assistance The Hailo-8 is designed for neural network acceleration in edge devices, with a particular focus on the automotive sector, targeting advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous driving applications. It is in the process of being certified for ASIL-B at the chip level (and ASIL-D at the system level) and is AEC-Q100 qualified. The Hailo-8 also suits applications that require the latency and data privacy provided by performing AI inference locally on the edge device, rather than in the cloud.“Automotive is our strategic market and most of our investors came from the automotive market,” said Bar. “We already have engagement with automotive Tier-1s and OEMs, but this will take a while to generate revenue.”Hailo’s view of the market so far is that automotive customers today are looking beyond raw compute in their AI accelerator choices, with optimisation gaining importance.Acting as a co-processor means the Hailo-8 can be designed in alongside SoCs already in development by automotive Tier-1s before the requirement for deep learning came along.“For time to market, [customers] can connect the Hailo-8 as a co-processor, keeping all the development they did on the SoC, but offload the neural network tasks. This is a big advantage from their perspective,” Bar said. How does Hailo fancy its chances against the dozens of other AI edge accelerator startups out there?“There are many innovative technologies out there that still need to be proven,” Bar said. “There are ideas about FPGAs, analogue devices, memory-based architectures, but eventually, the challenge is to make it as a product and to put the real chip on the table. When we look around and see the available [competitor] chips, there are not actually many out there that can be integrated today.”Mass production of the Hailo-8 will begin in the first half of 2020.>> This article was originally published on our sister site, EE Times: “Details of Hailo AI Edge Accelerator Emerge.” The Hailo-8 achieves 26 TOPS (Image: Hailo)Secretive Israeli AI accelerator startup Hailo has revealed some key details of its novel compute architecture, following the launch of its first chip, the Hailo-8, in May.The company was founded in February 2017 by members of the Israel Defense Forces’ elite intelligence unit. Today, Hailo has around 60 employees at its HQ in Tel-Aviv.Hailo has managed to get from concept to product in less than two years, having raised $21 million to date in Series A funding. They have “at least ten” patents pending. Performance and Power Hailo-8, launched at the Embedded Vision Summit, boasts performance of 26 TOPS with notable power efficiency of 2.8 TOPS/W. The power consumption was measured running ResNet-50 on low resolution video (224 x 224 at 672 fps) at 8-bit precision with a batch size of 1. This is an order of magnitude better than the current market-leading solution for automotive vision inference at the edge.In an interview with EETimes, Liran Bar, Hailo’s Director of Product Marketing, stressed that the 2.8 TOPS/W figure was a realistic figure based on a real application.“Companies are claiming all kinds of power efficiency, but they actually take the theoretical number for how many TOPS they have, and then divide it,” (by the power consumption) he said. “The [Hailo-8’s] 26 TOPS is the maximum theoretical number, but this is assuming you have 100% utilisation, which is not the case [in real applications].”Results for image detection on 720p video using Mobile-Net-SSD, and semantic segmentation using FCN-16 on 1080p video, were just as impressive.“Running the [semantic segmentation] network on HD resolution footage, unlike other solutions that require downscaling of the input sensor resolution in order to meet real-time requirements, means we can identify objects from further away, and means OEMs can leverage the expensive input sensors they are using,” Bar said. Plaxico Burress Took A Twitter Jab At Jim Harbaugh, Michigan

first_imgPlaxico Burress close up.plaxico burress upset michigan state nebraska gameSince taking over at Michigan, Jim Harbaugh has certainly gone above and beyond in terms of recruiting. Whether it’s sleepovers, climbing trees, going to class with recruits or moving spring practice to Florida for a week, Harbaugh is committed to selling his vision in any way possible. The future is Harbaugh’s biggest selling point, as the Wolverines haven’t been elite lately. In recent years, Michigan has been on the short end of the stick against arch-rivals Michigan State and Ohio State. They’ve lost 11 of 12 to the Buckeyes and seven of eight to Sparty. Taking all this into account, former Michigan State star Plaxico Burress dropped a quick jab at Harbaugh and his recruiting tactics on Twitter this morning. According to Burress, while Harbaugh has to peddle his program, the Spartans simply have to point to the results. Looks like J Harbaugh is pulling out all stops to get kids to Michigan. We @MSU_Football just believe in the product. Don’t have to sell us— Plaxico Burress (@plaxicoburress) March 1, 2016Plax has a point because Michigan State has been the premier program in the state of Michigan the last several seasons. However, Harbaugh did lead his team to a 10-3 record in his first year and was one insane fluke play away from beating the Spartans. The Wolverines also have an outstanding recruiting class on the way. Will the Maize and Blue begin dominating its in-state rivals starting in 2016? We won’t go that far, but this series should be much closer in the coming years.last_img read more

BJP looks to present itself as viable strong force in Southern states

first_imgNew Delhi: Strengthening its presence in southern states is high on the BJP’s agenda which is focusing on wooing leaders from rival parties and infusing its organisation with new leadership to boost its presence there. The appointment of Tamil Nadu BJP chief Tamilisai Soundararajan as Telangana governor will pave the way for ushering in a new leadership in the Dravidian state, a party leader noted. The BJP has already undertaken a big expansion drive in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by bringing influential leaders, especially from the TDP, into its ranks. Also Read – Uddhav bats for ‘Sena CM’Despite the surge the BJP has seen in popular support across the country during the recent Lok Sabha polls, its footprint has not expanded in a similar manner in southern states, barring Karnataka where it has long been a strong presence. The party failed to win a single seat in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh, which together have 84 constituencies. Its tally fell to zero from two in Andhra but it improved its show in Telangana by winning four seats against the one it had in 2014. The BJP believes that there is also a “political vacuum” in Tamil Nadu following the death of two feuding stalwarts, Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi, he said. “There is space. It is now up to us to present ourselves as a viable strong force. Local leadership will have a crucial role to play,” he said. Many in the party believe that the recent appointment of B L Santhosh as the national general secretary (organisation) underscores the leadership’s drive to strengthen its presence in these sates. As joint general secretary (organisation), Santhosh, who hails from Karnataka, was in charge of the party’s affairs in the south before he was elevated.last_img read more
