Elbit lands $173m naval RCWS deal in Asia-Pacific

first_imgIsraeli defense contractor Elbit Systems announced it has been contracted to deliver naval remote-controlled weapon stations (RCWS) for navy and coast guard ships of an unidentified Asia-Pacific country.The contract is worth approximately $173 million and will be performed over a five-year period, according to the company.Elbit Systems will provide lightweight, fully stabilized dual-axis Naval RCWS to be installed onboard a range of vessels. The RCWS will feature a 12.7mm machine gun and ammunition, Elbit Systems’ fire control system and a modular electro-optic suite.“We are pleased with this contract award that attests to the quality of our systems,” Yehuda (Udi) Vered, General Manager of Elbit Systems Land and C4I, commented. “I am confident that the demand for the weapon stations we offer will continue to grow, as customers increasingly recognize our unique capacity to draw on an exceptionally broad portfolio to provide comprehensive operational solutions.”This is likely Elbit’s second naval RCWS contract after the company teamed up with Rheinmetall Canada to deliver RCWS for Royal Canadian Navy ships in 2015.
