Irish charity umbrella group, the Wheel, is to launch a new online fundraising initiative called Deal Effect. Deal Effect, which brings together 34 mostly smaller charities, aims to cash in on the popularity of daily deal websites where consumers get a bargain, companies get the business and the participating charities get 11% of the value of transactions. It is due to launch in June. “Deal Effect is the modern version of the Christmas card, enabling relatively small but repeat revenues, as well as a way of giving something back to donors without always asking them for money,” Wheel CEO Deirdre Garvey told the Sunday Times.
